Scope and Contents of the Materials
The records of the Elgin Community College Board date from 1974 to 1995 with the majority of the records dating 1979 to 1983. This period coincides with Mrs. Schock’s term on the Board of Trustees. The records include annual reports, board minutes, tape recordings of board meetings, one and five year plans for the Liberal Arts and Sciences and Vocational and Technical Education Colleges, policies and handbooks, class catalogs and schedules, the student newspapers, newspaper clippings, board election information, and other documents relating to the business of the board. Personal notes and observations, correspondence, and position papers issued to the public by the donor conclude the collection. Researchers should be aware that the collection covers a limited time of the college’s history and is not a complete record of the Elgin Community College.
