District VI of the Business and Professional Women’s Club formed in November 1945 as District III. The initial membership included the Belvidere, DeKalb, Harvard, LaSalle, Mendota, Rockford, and Sycamore Clubs. In 1962 the name changed to District V adding several clubs onto the membership list. The final change came in 1969 when it became District VI. Present membership includes the Belvidere, DeKalb, Harvard, McHenry, Rochelle, Rockford, Sycamore, and Woodstock clubs.
The district club acts as a liaison between the state federation and the clubs in the district. The director or chairman visits each club throughout the year and also holds meetings to discuss state legislation, club activities, and state and national federation business. District VI is known for initiating the Woman of the Year Award where each district chooses a woman on the basis of her contributions to the community, business, church, and organizations.
