Scope and Contents: These records document the establishment, development, and membership growth of the South Grove Grange No. 1838, DeKalb County, Illinois. Included are the original articles of incorporation and dispensation (1925), by-laws, one minute book (1932-1937), a dues account book (1925-1939), quarterly subordinate reports (1936-1939), several state/national grange publications, and a complete run of membership applications for the first fifteen years (1925-1939). Several small items, e.g., official ribbons and a grange stamp, are included in envelopes. Stored with the artifacts in the security cage is the grange embosser.
This collection is incomplete in that it does not contain any correspondence, most of the minute books, and some membership information in later years. These materials are currently being sought and will be added to the collection if acquired.
