Brief Description:

The DeKalb Branch of the American Association of University Women is divided into three series: DeKalb Branch, Illinois AAUW, and National AAUW.  The first series partially documents the history of the DeKalb Branch from 1939 to 1996 with the majority of the records dating from 1960 to 1996.  The first nine years of the organization’s existence (1930-1939) are not documented.  The records consist of bylaws, minutes, newsletters, yearbooks, membership information,  treasurer’s reports, and scrapbooks.

The second and third series partially documents the activities of the State and National AAUW.  The series’ consist of directories, publications, and convention information.  Of special interest are the two AAUW buttons and the three VHS videotapes produced by the National AAUW.

Acquisition Notes: various individuals and Katherine Walker  The records of the American Association of University Women, DeKalb Branch, came to the Northern Illinois University Archives from various individuals and Katherine Walker from 1965-1977.  In July 1978, these materials were transferred to the Northern Illinois Regional History Center.
