Administrative/Biographical History
The DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center Auxiliary was organized in 1978. The purpose of the Auxiliary is to provide assistance to the DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center and its staff for the benefit of the residents of the home. The purposes are achieved through member activities including; one-on-one visiting and activities with residents, working in the Auxiliary’s Clothing and Peddler Shops, and raising funds through Bakeless Bake Sales and Tag Day. Over the years, the Auxiliary has used these funds to provide the home and its residents with countless amenities; including, specialized health care equipment, televisions, furniture, blinds and ceiling fans, resident parties and outings, newspaper subscriptions, and much more. A listing of all items bought by the Auxiliary from 1982-2003 is located in Box 1, Folder 14. Auxiliary membership is open to all interested persons.
