Administrative/Biographical History
The Stage Coach Players is a DeKalb Community Theatre group that began entertaining in 1947. Originally the group used the Ellwood barn as their theatre and the Ellwood stage coach as their ticket office. It was from the early ticket office that they took their name. In 1950 two corporations were set up, one as a property holder and the other as a play production company. Subsequently the two corporations merged into one. That same year the group lost the use of the barn and bought some property on Barber Greene Road where, in 1953, they built their current theatre building. At the end of the 2000 season, the group plans to leave their current building and move to a new location on the corner of 5th and Grove in DeKalb.
