Records Relating to Business Affairs Office | Northern Illinois University

In 1967 Northern’s board created the position of Vice-President for Business Affairs to replace the Business Office which had been established in 1950.  The Business Affairs Office took charge of the Physical Plant Department, the Auxiliary Services Department, the Public Safety Department, the Insurance Office, and the Campus Parking Committee.  Records from the Business Affairs Office and the departments that reported to it are contained in this collection, and include: meeting minutes, handbooks and annual reports, as well as the university’s yearly Financial Report.  The majority of records date from the 1950's to 1996, when the office was merged with Finance and Planning to form the Division of Finance and Facilities.  Diaries and logs of operating engineer James A. Clark (1906-1943) are also found here.
