Records Relating to Fraternities | Northern Illinois University
Fraternities first came to Northern’s campus during the 1920's. The proliferation of local and national organizations prompted the creation in 1954 of the Inter-Fraternity Council. The council’s responsibilities include mediating disputes between fraternities and settling questions regarding rush. Inter-Fraternity Council records contain minutes and information on Greek activities. In addition, constitutions, histories, minutes, and correspondence document the activities of twenty-nine social, service and honorary fraternities. The records found here date primarily between 1947 and 1977.
