Records Relating to Continuing Education | Northern Illinois University
The College of Continuing Education administered all courses taught off the main campus and ran many special seminars, conferences, and programs of an academic nature on campus. Continuing education extension courses were first offered during the 1930's, but the college itself was not formally established until 1966. Provost Kendall Baker disestablished the college in 1991 and decentralized its activities under a Division of Continuing Education. In 2002 the functions of Continuing Education were placed under the umbrella of Outreach Services. There are four series in this collection: college administrative records, adult education, conference bureau, and materials relating to the prison education programs.
