Records Relating to WNIU-FM/ WNIJ-FM | Northern Illinois University

The university began broadcasting radio programs in 1947 using a local station's facilities.  In 1954 programs began to air from the new campus station, WNIC-FM.  In 1968 the station received permission to change its call letters to WNIU-FM.  A sister station, WNIJ-FM was added in 1990.  In addition to program guides and reports, this collection also contains tapes of news broadcasts and musical programs, primarily from the 1960’s and 1970’s.
