Records Relating to Board of Trustees | Northern Illinois University

On January 1, 1996 Northern Illinois University established its own Board of Trustees to govern its activities.  It was preceded by Governor Altgeld’s appointed Board (1895-1917), the Normal School Board, which in 1941 became the Teachers College Board, and in 1965 became the Board of Governors of State Colleges and Universities.  Two years later Northern came under the jurisdiction of the newly created Illinois Board of Regents (1967-1995).  The records in this collection include minutes from the Board of Trustees and its predecessors, budgets, Executive Officer's Reports, and a few records of the board's various committees.  Meeting minutes and other official documents are added regularly.
